Personal Project, Branding, Packaging Design

Elsewhere Candle & Co.

A candle collection inspired by ephemera mementos and faraway places. Each scent is a postcard in wax form—rooted in nostalgia and designed to transport.

For this personal project I gave myself twenty-four hours to come up with an idea, branding concept, and mockup execution. That idea was blending scent with storytelling, translating destinations into something tangible. The visual design leans into vintage postage aesthetics, reinforcing the idea of scent as a message delivered from your favorite place or memory.

This collection started with the idea of scent as a keepsake—something that stays with you long after you’ve left a place. I paired florals and earthy notes to create blends that feel like small, fragrant souvenirs. I chose places that are special to me or that I dream to one day visit.

What would I buy as a consumer? What's important to me? I explored the idea of travel and keepsakes and how that can be translated through scent

Concept Ideation

Copywriting

I did my own copywriting and brought in writings from personal postcards for authenticity

Design Playground

The fun part: moodboards, illustrations, Generative AI, trying to see what sticks

After playing around with various ideas, I created a cohesive design system that includes labels, packaging, font pairings, imagery, etc.

Design Refinement

This is when I bring everything together then feel bummed out that these candles don't actually exist (for now)

Mockup & Execution

Whenever you write a postcard, the same sentiment always comes up, "I wish you were here." But sometimes, a scent does a better job of bringing a place to you. Postage not included.
